This week I'm waiting on...
The Gardener by S.A. Bodeen
Summary from Amazon.com: Mason has never known his father, but longs to. All he has of him is a DVD of a man whose face is never seen, reading a children’s book. One day, on a whim, he plays the DVD for a group of comatose teens at the nursing home where his mother works. One of them, a beautiful girl, responds. Mason learns she is part of a horrible experiment intended to render teenagers into autotrophs—genetically engineered, self-sustaining life-forms who don’t need food or water to survive. And before he knows it, Mason is on the run with the girl, and wanted, dead or alive, by the mysterious mastermind of this gruesome plan, who is simply called the Gardener. Will Mason be forced to destroy the thing he’s longed for most?
I absolutely loved S.A. Bodeen's The Compound when I read it last year, so you'd be safe to assume that I'd pretty much be looking forward to any new book from her. However, I think this premise kicks it up a notch. Replace 'looking forward to' with 'crazy excited for' and you're halfway there.
Horrible experiment? Genetic engineering? Yes please.
Waiting till May 25th 2010 for the US publication? Well, I'd rather not, but if this one's anywhere near as good as The Compound it'll be well worth waiting for.

Ooh, hello! Sounds like a winner. I am yet to read The Compound but hopefully soon!
I can't get my head around the premise for this. If you say the author is maazing though, then I shall look forward to hearing all about this when it is released. I've never heard of The Compound before!
Such a great pick - this one looks amazing!
Since I think you right on anything dystopian, I'm going to go and pre order this. I havent read the compound but everyone (and I mean everyone, do you know what its like always having that annoying little voice saying read the compound!!!! in your head every single second? Or maybe I just have awesomely bookish friends?) is telling me to. I think I'll cave and go and buy that.
Wow. That was a long comment.
I love the sound of this. Great pick!
This doesn't sound (or look!) like my kind of thing but I look forward to your review once you eventually get the book!
